Raúl Tavolari O.

Studies

Graduated from Universidad de Chile Law School, received his law degree in 1970. He has postgraduate studies in the United States and Spain.

Experience

He is a professor of Procedural Law at Universidad de Chile Law School and professor emeritus at Universidad de Valparaíso School of Law (formerly Universidad de Chile de Valparaíso). Visiting professor at Universities in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Peru.

Arbitrator of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CAM Santiago).

Member of the Court of Appeals of Valparaíso and president of the Valparaíso Bar Association.

He was co-editor of the Chilean Criminal Procedure Code, in force since December 2000, and co-editor of the Public Ministry Organic Law Draft and of the Family Court Law.

Member of the drafting Commission of the Chilean Civil Procedure Code Project pending in the National Congress and advisor to the Executive Branch for its parliamentary discussion.

Member and former President of the Iberoamerican Institute of Procedural Law; Founder, director, and Past President of the Chilean Institute of Procedural Law.

Member of the International Association of Procedural Law.

Honorary Member of the Uruguayan Institute of Procedural Law, of the International Editorial Council of the Argentine Magazine of Procedural Law and of the Latin American Editorial Council of the Spanish Magazine of Procedural Law. Former director of the Law and Jurisprudence Magazine.
